A painter's dream, light and atmosphere

Corolla, located on the northern tip of North Carolina’s scenic Outer Banks, will be chockful of inspiration and its remote location conducive to dedicate this week to making, living, and breathing art.

Together we will explore en plein air the uncrowded sandy shores with their roaming herds of wild mustangs and historic landmarks like the red Currituck Beach Lighthouse. The Outer Banks are a painter’s dream. Under Manon’s guidance, you will translate what you see and feel into paintings that capture light, atmosphere, and a sense of time of day.

Plein Air · Oil, Gouache & Acrylic

Manon is an award-winning contemporary impressionist, born and raised in Berlin, Germany, who now resides in Southern Florida, which with its glittering bodies of water and ocean presents a cornucopia of inspiration for her. However, more important than the subject matter itself is Manon’s goal to capture the effects of light on a subject and the feeling it evokes, expressing it through interesting patterns, luminous color, and juicy brush strokes, mostly in oils, but occasionally in gouache and acrylics.

Manon participates in nationwide juried and invitational plein air events like Plein Air Easton, Forgotten Coast En Plein Air, Laguna Beach Plein Air Festival, Maui Plein Air Festival, and exhibits frequently in juried shows. Her works are in private collections on three continents and have frequently been included in publications such as American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, Plein Air Magazine, and Modern Impressionist Magazine. Recent awards included the coveted Jean Stern Legacy Award at Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational, 3rd place at Lighthouse Plein Air Festival in Tequesta, FL, and 1st place at the DA Ranch paint out at the Sedona Plein Air Festival.

Manon holds signature status with the American Impressionist Society, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, American Society of Marine Artists, and Laguna Plein Air Painters’ Association. She is a sought-after instructor, teaching sold-out national and international painting workshops and hosting popular artists retreats in France, Italy, and Portugal. Ultimately, Manon aims to communicate her joie de vivre through paintings that reflect the color, light, and joy Manon feels surrounded by and is ever so grateful for.
